We were walking back from our orientation to go to TESCO (the grocery store here) and it was a group of about ten of us, and 2 of the girls decided to stop and buy a hat so I thought I would wait for them. The rest of the group stopped at a store a few shops ahead, and while I was waiting for them I went into this glass store next to the hat place to look around. I swear I was only in there for like 3 minutes and I came out and everyone was GONE. I looked in the hat store and I walked down the street. No one. So then I thought I knew the way to Tesco, but 45 minutes later I had no idea where I was and it looked like I was walking into like downtown LA. There was a mall and shops, but I started to see homeless people and gypsies so I started to panic a little because before even if I hadn't found TESCO I knew how to get back to the dorms, but now I had no idea. Before this I didn't want to ask anyone for directions because I was alone and I was afraid they'd be like, ohhh come with me and steal me lol...but I found a money exchange place and I figured they had to speak some English and I went inside and the teller spoke GREAT English thank goodness and he told me I had to take the metro to Narodni Trida to get to TESCO so I'm guessing I was really lost, because we were supposed to be able to just walk there before. Anyways I didn't really know how to use the metro because I had never been on it in Prague, so I found the station and went down, I didn't buy a ticket so I hope you don't have to, I hopped on the metro that said it was going to Narodni Trida and got off a few stops later. When I got out I saw the TESCO and went in to look for them. Granted the place has 5 floors, so I didn't find them. Then I went outside to the phone store next door because I knew everyone needed a phone and I saw Caitlin Caitlin and Megan in the window and almost started crying I was so happy lol. When they saw me they asked me where the other two girls who were buying the hats were because they thought I was with them, turns out they thought I was with those two girls and they couldn't find us so they just went to TESCO because they figured that's where we would be headed. So everyone thought everyone I was fine. Lol But now we have phones so I'm sure if I get lost I can call someone, because the entire time I was thinking the only person I can call is my mom...and she can't do anything lol. SO that was my adventure today. I don't really want to get lost anymore...wayyy too stressful. Lol. But at least I kind of know my way around Prague now, AND I know how to use the metro minus the whole ticket situation I'll have to figure that out.

What was the first thing your dad said when you left. DON"T TALK TO ANYONE! I'm really happy you didn't listen to him. Where was Lauren in all this? I knew those two Caitlin were going to be trouble. HaHa. Well carry on and please try to pay attention. By the way did you get what you wanted from tesco?
ReplyDeleteAt least you didn't talk to the gypsy's! The Money Store was a good move. So, how is the slums of Prague. You may need a ticket for the Metro.LOL Love You Lots!
ReplyDeleteGood move on avoiding the gypsies. Even Don says he avoids the gypsies HERE, so the exchange place was a good move. Print out a map of the city from google and carry it with you. Did you make a color copy of your passport just in case? Also, where are the picutres for today? I need to enjoy where "we" went, even if we did get lost....

ReplyDeleteDad-It actually wasn't too bad it was just like getting dark and I think I was blowing everything way out of proportion because I was panicking. I was running around like one of those speed walkers trying to figure out where I was and everything just didn't not look familiar. And the whole ticket thing, apparently you don't need one, or at least I don't. I have a metro/tram/bus pass that lasts the whole semester. Which is WAY useful. And now I know how to use it! Love youu!!!
Julie-Hey! Ya I keep the passport copy in my wallet, and I have a map they gave me but google might be easier to read because honestly all these czech words look the same. Lol. And I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures that day because I was speed walking through, I should've though. Next time!
